Refund / return policy

We aim to bring you the best quality fashion jewellery and take pride in the quality of our products and excellent value.
  • For hygiene reasons earrings may not be returned or exchanged unless faulty.
  • We do not offer a refund unless the item is faulty.
  • Rings sizes are clearly marked and cannot be returned or refunded due to incorrect sizing.
  • If you are unhappy with your purchase and would prefer something else, we will gladly arrange collection via courier and send you a store voucher or exchange the item to the same value but you will have to pay for the courier fee of R65 each way (unless in an outlying area of R85).
  • All items are individually checked before shipment to ensure there are no manufacturing defects. However, sometimes we may miss something. If your item(s) are defective they may be returned within 7 days of your order being delivered. A “Defective Product” is one which contains a material imperfection in the manufacture or design that renders the product less acceptable, useful or safe than reasonably expected, under the circumstances. If this is the case, we will gladly arrange collection via courier and send you a replacement at no cost to you.
All returns must be logged within 7 days of your order being delivered. The item(s) must be in a re-sellable condition and in it's original packaging, with labels attached.
Note: If you select to pay via EFT and your EFT is not made within 48hrs of your order, the order will be cancelled and stock released.

Unless specified, all byCARA pieces are nickel free costume jewellery. byCARA is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewellery.

Costume jewellery will change colour over time with wear and tear and various other aspects. To make the color last longer we suggest you keep your byCARA pieces away from

  • water
  • dishwashing soap
  • lotion
  • perfume
  • hair products
  • jewellery cleaners
  • other harsh chemicals
  • Remove while exercising to avoid contact with sweat

Where stated, gold plated is a coat of gold over a lesser metal such as brass. It is still subject to color loss. A base metal such as steel or brass is dipped into a bath of electroplating solution, with a lump of solid gold. When an electric current is applied, a thin layer of gold is deposited on the metal. Since the plating is quite thin, the plate (and hence the color) can wear off but not as quickly as non-gold plated.

Everyone's skin type is different. Some people have strong reactions to bronze & gold plating. It's not our fault. No refunds or returns are given for this reason or the turning of your jewellery color caused by skins oils.
Your byCARA should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. The air around us is what makes metal tarnish. We recommend using our ziploc or sandwich bag with the air squeezed out to prevent oxidization or when storing your fashion jewellery try wrapping each piece in anti-tarnish paper. If you don't have anti-tarnish paper use an eyeglass cloth.
